I plan and post an event for the week. Each event packs a creative flavor of cultural, social, and the most economical means of having fun. You decide whether you want to come along or not. Simple as that. What is the flavor of this week? Check out my posts!

MONTH 4: VOLUNTEER - Do Good Bus

I have a new - although late - New Year's Resolution. Once a month I'd like to plan a volunteer event to do good deeds for other people. In light of the disaster in Japan and other devastating situations with the world and its people, I want to do my part, not only funding projects but "doing something."

Here's the info:
TRIP: "The Hunt"
CATEGORY: GOOD Earth (What's this?)

DATE: April 23, 2011
BUS DEPARTS: 1PM
BUS RETURNS: Approx 6PM

PICK UP LOCATION: East Hollywood/LA
COST: $45

If anything, I've donated to the following this year:

1. Jan - Write Act - theatre (ongoing)
2. Feb - MS Walk
3. Mar - Global Giving/Red Cross

So for this month, I decided to try out the Do Good Bus, which I learned about through LA Guerilla Gardening (http://www.laguerrillagardening.org/) at GOOD LA last weekend. Find out how to give back! Visit the Do Good Bus website! (http://dogoodbus.com/)

(From the site)
MONTHLY RIDES:

We host a public ride every other month in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. Activities range from working with kids to building new homes to creating guerrilla gardens. Every ride includes breakfast, dinner or lunch and lasts between 4 and 6 hours depending on location.

I also signed up for LA Works (laworks.com) to find some great volunteer opportunities!

Here are other organizations I'm looking at:
Burrito Project

WEEK 16 - Wonton Meal (and Ice Cream)

I'm making wonton soup and fried cream cheese jalapeno wontons.

NEW RECIPE: Homemade Wonton Soup

Perhaps we will make avocado sushi and some pineapple ice cream.

NEW RECIPE: Pineapple Ice Cream

And perhaps if I'm ambitious, mochi ice cream. :)
