I plan and post an event for the week. Each event packs a creative flavor of cultural, social, and the most economical means of having fun. You decide whether you want to come along or not. Simple as that. What is the flavor of this week? Check out my posts!

Month 8: Rochelle's Readings

I've been with Write Act for about 9 months now... 9 months is the amount of time it takes to have a baby. So I've been writing as much as I can, full length, 10 minute, one act, etc, and I'm now finally having a reading of three of my 10-minute plays at Write Act Rep, my theatre company in Hollywood.

WHAT: Rochelle's Readings
WHEN: Sunday, August 9, 2009, 7:00pm - 9:00pm
WHERE: Write Act Rep - 6128 Yucca St., Los Angeles, CA

The three plays we'll be reading:
1. "Office Assistance" - a lawyer discussing the concept of marriage with his assistant
2. "Last Street" - a group of homeless people trying to find a sense of home on the streets of LA
3. "When Charlie Comes Home" - a dark comedy about Christmas, faith, and family

Cost is free! Please come for the moral support! :)

REVIEW on MONTH 7 Part 2: Photo Gallery

Deane hung up his photos against his wall in the living room. Hung them up as if letting them dry after coming out of the bath in the dark room. I printed only two 8x10s, the rest of mine were all 4x6. Had many compliments on the food I made - maple-glazed salmon, green beans cooked in mac nut oil, spam musubi, smoked salmon spread, and I cut up some pepper jack cheese and reindeer salami. Yum! We made cookies and cream ice cream later that night, which no one really got to enjoy, but the thought was there and I think everyone's stomachs were full anyway. :) Had some trivia on Hawaii and Alaska. Hard questions, I know, but hopefully people learned something about the last two states.

Month 7 Part 2 - Photo Gallery

Deane and I have traveled a little bit over the past 6 months. We visited the two non-contiguous states, Hawaii in Spring, and Alaska in Summer. Most of our pictures will showcase our recent trip to Vancouver, Alaska, and Seattle, so we're throwing a party to celebrate our return to blazing Los Angeles. Don't worry, we've picked a few to highlight, and no, we're not holding people captive for a slideshow - it'll be more like an art gallery exhibition. Cold refreshments will be provided, along with delicacies we picked up along the way, like smoked salmon and reindeer salami - but feel free to bring anything you're especially craving.

WHAT: Photo Gallery
WHERE: Deane's place
WHEN: Sunday, July 26th at 3pm.

Also, it should be noted that Deane's front door buzzer is busted, so you'll have to call one of us upon your arrival. Street parking on Curson is legal, and on surrounding streets, and should be ample on a Sunday afternoon.

REVIEW on MONTH 7: Bartering Party

It was hard to barter as efficiently when people arrived and left at different times, but overall it was fun. People bartered the silliest things and the most relevant things. From Adobe CS tutoring and teaching a new language to being arm candy at your next big social event and offering student discounts... Some people bartered and exchanged an agreement of future services rendered to each other, while others didn't barter at all but still had fun writing down their skills, funny or not. I had some food for people to munch on, like pita bread and hummus, chips and guac, mini pizzas, green beans, and carrots. Overall, decent turnout for a get-together at my new place!
