I plan and post an event for the week. Each event packs a creative flavor of cultural, social, and the most economical means of having fun. You decide whether you want to come along or not. Simple as that. What is the flavor of this week? Check out my posts!

MONTH 11: Volunteer - Burrito Project and One Brick Much Love Adoption

The Burrito Project - http://www.facebook.com/pages/South-Pasadena-Burrito-Project/337512438766?sk=wall
(takes place monthly every third Thursday of the month)

When: Thursday - 7:30pm until 10:30pm

Where: 1524 Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena, CA

Description: It's our Thanksgiving Burrito Project.

If you have joined us before, you know how rewarding giving back to the community can be. Think of this as Halloween in reverse. Instead of collecting sweets we GIVE away burritos & water to the hungry in Downtown Los Angeles. If yo...u have yet to join us, then THIS is the PERFECT time to get involved, make new friends & join in the fun!

(We are GUESTS of the St. Joseph Center Food Bank, so this is generally a 21 & over event. If you would like to participate & you or your guest are under the age of 21, please contact me directly & we can discuss the details. Thank you.)

What is the Burrito Project?

The Burrito Project is a group of really cool & groovy people who get together & make burritos. Once the burritos are made, we deliver the burritos along with bottled water to the homeless in downtown LA (and/or the Pasadena area).

Interested?

We gather on the THIRD Thursday evening in South Pasadena at the St Joseph Center on the corner of Fremont Avenue & Oak Street (on the North-East Corner). The parking lot is accessed from Oak Street. The kitchen is accessed from the parking lot.

We start gathering between 7:00-7:30 so we can prepare the kitchen & start warming up the 200+ tortillas needed for the night. Join us for quesadillas, beverages & conversation.

We start the "festivities" about 7:30pm.

Burrito Project Rules:
#1 - You MUST have fun, smile & make new friends while making Burritos.
#2 - Please invite OTHER Cool & Groovy People to join in on this fun & worthwhile service project.
#3 - Please bring a $5-$10 donation to help offset the cost of the Burritos Ingredients. A case or two of bottled water is also helpful.
#4 - When we are done making & wrapping burritos, (and cleaning up the kitchen) we carpool to the "distribution location(s)" in downtown LA & Pasadena area.
#5 - Become a FAN of the "Burrito Project South Pasadena" so you will be informed of cool events going on: http://www.facebook.com/BurritoProjectSouthPasadena

I look forward to seeing you on the 17th of November. I really appreciate your time. (If possible) Please bring your ENERGY, Smile & ANY donation you feel inspired to give). Your donation helps to offset the cost of bottled water, tortillas, salsa & other burrito ingredients (which are not donated).

Please RSVP so I can provide enough beverages. (By SPECIAL REQUEST, we'll be enjoying Quesadillas & Burritos. YUM!)

ALSO, remember to wear comfortable shoes & to dress appropriately for the weather. It's getting QUITE CHILLY!

Thank you!

Help Animals Get Adopted with Much Love Rescue in Santa Monica
Location: Much Love Adoption Event
Address: Main and Ocean Park, Santa Monica, CA 90403
Date: Sun, November 20th - 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

This event is FULL. Space often opens up a few days before the event, please check back.

We are going to help Much Love rescue with one of their weekly adoption events.

Please sign up through One Brick only if you haven't attended this event before. If you have participated in this the event before, we absolutely want you to join us (!) but sign up directly with Much Love and just drop us an email that you will be attending.

Those wanting to catch a quick and social bite of food will meet across the street from the Santa Monica farmers market at 11:00 (the dogs do so love it when you have brunch breath...)

Then everyone will gather at the event site at 12:00 for orientation/training and spend the rest of the afternoon sitting and playing with animals at the adoption event as well as introducing the animals to potential new "forever parents". We will help Much Love break down the event at 3:30 and be done by 4:00.

What you should know

While there is no charge for the event, we do need you to commit to the one time purchase of a Much Love Volunteer t-shirt while at the event ($10.00) so that the event organizers can easily keep track of who is a volunteer versus who is a visitor (we don't want any dognappings on our watch!). All t-shirt funds go to Much Love so it is $10.00 well spent and you can wear the t-shirt to future Much Love adoption events (which you will then be able to attend without further charge).

Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a water bottle, a blanket to sit on isn't a bad idea, a little cash for a t-shirt and brunch.

This is a pretty low key event. It involves:

* Sitting and petting animals as potential pet parents learn more about the animals, Much Love and the adoption process
* Chatting with other Much Love and One Brick volunteers
* Disassembling a tent and some crates at the end of the event
* If you are up for it, transporting some animals back to their foster homes at the end of the event

More info about Much Love here: www.muchlove.org

Where to meet: Whether you are joining us for brunch or not we will meet or pick you up at the courtyard of the public library at Ocean Park and Main. Much Love is one block away from that intersection.

Organization: Much Love Animal Rescue

Cat and dog no kill shelter.
