FLAVOR of WEEK 51

Most of this week consisted of making jewelry and moving in with Deane into his WeHo apt.

REVIEW on MONTH 12

A number of people came on different nights. The biggest night was actually Monday. My family combined this with my birthday since I'd been wanting them to try my other favorite restaurant: Pizzeria Mozza (since we had gone to Lou for the first play.) Everyone loved the food! The play was great, many called it "interesting." It was certainly the darkest of the plays. My mom wondered why I write such depressing plays. She thinks it has something to do with her influence - Poe/jail cell = mom works in a jail. Psycho Molly in Christmas show = mom gives meds to mental patients. Funny, I never thought it influenced me, but maybe in some subconscious way I'm really troubled by my mom's profession.

Again, thanks to all who came out, watched, and supported me. For those who couldn't... I don't blame you. I just need to write something more uplifting... which leads to My New Year's Resolution: write a light-hearted comedy playscript. We'll see if I can do it.

This whole week seemed full of networking... and of course, the headache from Overnight Prints company... which I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

MONTH 12: Rochelle's Christmas Play

This is a 10-minute play I workshopped at my reading in August (see pic for ref.) Now it's coming to Write Act for their Christmas Performance 2009! Here is a synopsis:

Molly has been waiting for Christmas all year long, waiting to make her son Charlie happy with the perfect Christmas gift. When Santa comes down the ...chimney this year, though, Molly discovers this year's holiday may not be the one she expected. Still, Santa cares enough about her to give Molly her perfect present.

WHAT: "When Charlie Comes Home"
WHEN: December 15th, 2009 at 8:00pm
WHERE: Write Act Rep -

Performance dates are Dec. 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th, 16th... Mondays through Wednesdays starting at 8pm. I will be there for sure on the 15th!

REVIEW on MONTH 11

This was a great evening/night out. My dad and sister Iris were in town because they were looking at college campuses (UCLA and USC) for next year. They met up with me, Ry, Gizelle, mom, and Deane at Lou on Melrose, one of Deane and my favorite places. It was great, despite the long wait for food. We had the organic apple cider, a salad, and while some got seafood scallops, I was with the guys and got the steak, rare.




We caravanned it to Write Act, and there met up with some other friends: Tony, Davrick, and Carolyn. It was a great performance. The actors did a great job that night and I was really pleased with them. The whole night of one-acts proved to be a success. Deane recorded it, so I hope to get the video up soon for everyone to see!

Thanks to everyone who came and celebrated with me on my playwrighting debut in Los Angeles! :)
